16 May 11:00 - 16 May 11:45
The Nordic Center of Excellence in health-related e-Sciences (NIASC) invites you to a webinar about development of e-science tools in cancer research and their use for development of personalized screening for cervical cancer.
In Sweden, there are annually >700000 cervical screening samples taken and yet 450 women develop cervical cancer each year. There is only a small proportion of Swedish women (<10%) who have not taken a cervical screening test during the last 6 years, but these women have a greatly increased risk for cervical cancer.
Using stratification of the women in a Swedish population based on screening attendance and use of new eScience tools to support risk-stratified screening, the organized screening program in the Stockholm-Gotland region of Sweden is now exploring optimal ways to reach the high-risk women, using a randomized healthcare policy design.
The webinar begins with an overview on the challenges and opportunities in the development of e-science tools for development of improved cancer screening and continues with the current implementation in cervical cancer screening.
