iGEM is the world's premier synthetic biology competition. More than 2700 participants from schools in every corner of the world gathered in Boston in september to demonstrate their knowledge of synthetic biology in the ultimate test as teams worked to solve real-world challenges by creating novel genetically-engineered systems.
This year, the 12th of iGEM, 280 teams participated worldwide. There were 69 European teams, 77 teams from North America and 101 teams from Asia. Sweden participated with 3 teams from Stockholm, Uppsala and Linköping.
Stockholm’s ABBBA, a joint team with students from Karolinska Institutet, KTH and Stockholm University were nominated to gold medal for "Best Health and Medicine Project, Overgrad”.
