Academic research and collaborations on Covid-19:

National research program on effects of vaccine
In December last year, SciLifeLab and Knut and Alice Wallenbergs Foundation (KAW) announced a call for a national research program to study the effects of Covid-19 vaccine. 24 suggestions were recieved and the project is now launched with ten funded projects.

Award winning Covid-efforts
Region Stockholms annual leadership award Gyllene Äpplet was awarded Nineveh Baresso, Head of the unit for curators and psychologists at Södertälje Hospital for the initiative of support measures for hospital staff very early in the pandemic and for the initiative for a crisis helpline for the public.

Sweden has taken the decision to launch a digital infrastructure for vaccination passport to be launched in the summer.

Follow-up studies on vaccines
The Swedish government allocates 100 MSEK to follow-up studies on Covid-19 vaccines. The Swedish Research Council has been commissioned  to prepare funding of follow-up studies on Covid-19 vaccines.

Valneva’s vaccine candidate in clinical trial
Valneva has initiatiated a Phase 1/2 clinical study for its Covid-19 vaccine candidate, VLA2001.

Covid-19 projects funded by Afa
Thirteen new Covid-19 projects receive research funding from Afa. The approved projects includes studies on how organizational changes such as notice and redundancies in the wake of the corona crisis affect mental health and sick leave, recovery and rehabilitation after Covid-19, remote teamwork and sick leave for commercial employees during the pandemic.
