Innovation and Collaboration at the Nordic Life Science Days

On the 14-15th of October the Nordic Life Science Days takes place at Stockholm Waterfront. UppsalaBio and Stockholm Science City Foundation are hosting one session each in the conference program. UppsalaBio will focus on innovation and tech transfer on the 14th while Stockholm Science City will have a topic covering useful experiences, challenges and opportunities concerning different aspect of collaboration on the 15th.Thomas Malmer will be acting as the moderator for both sessions and we had the opportunity to ask him about some of his views concerning life science.

In your view what are the strengths in the region within Life Science?

Sweden and the Stockholm-Uppsala region is, as many international rankings show, one of the most creative regions in the world. With five universities with world-leading research, several hundred companies, university hospitals with high-quality healthcare and innovation support functions this is a hot spot for life science.

What are the challenges for increased innovation and growth in the region?A successful innovation is based on knowledge, an entrepreneur and a market. There is always a need for more entrepreneurs that can bring ideas to the market and there must continue to be excellence in research. For Sweden as a small market, there is also a continued need for international collaboration in marketing of new products and services.

Why should people at Nordic Life Science Days attend the sessions hosted by UppsalaBio and Stockholm Science City?Because we will discuss how the relations are built in the region between universities and companies and how this strengthen the competiveness of the companies and the research. We will also discuss how the Stockholm-Uppsala region works with open innovation and international networks.

We encourage you to join us at the sessions - welcome!
