Let ‘em know AB is the latests Tools of Science Premium company. Let ‘em know provides service and support in the area of public relations to small and medium-size life science companies. We had a chat with Ola Björkman, CEO of Let ‘em know AB.
Let ‘em know AB is newly started, can you tell us about your company?
We provide PR services for Swedish life science companies. The team consist of myself and Richard Hayhurst who is based in the UK outside London. We are passionate about helping small and medium-size life science companies with exciting innovations to succeed by increasing the awareness and raising their profile among relevant decision makers in the international life science industry. Where we stand out as different is how we can build on our excellent contacts with international journalists to ensure that journalists pick up our story from their incoming news flow.
In your opinion why is PR an important tool as a marketing channel for the visibility of a company and their product?
There are mainly three reasons why PR works. 1) Industry decision makers regard trade and business press as a key information resource to make informed business decisions. 2) Editorial text in trade media is highly credible, far more credible than paid for content or advertising. 3) Using PR paves the way for a company’s business development efforts through providing potential investors, collaboration partners or customers with accurate and credible information about it’s innovations and business offer - thus cost-effectively opening doors for the business development and sales teams.
Let ‘em know AB is a new start-up company so what is your previous experience and track record in the services you provide?
With 25 years of experience and long standing connections with key journalists, we have the skills to provide PR service to support a company regardless of whether the goal is to secure financing, out-license the technology, find a partner or support marketing.
Previous and current clients include pharma/biotech, diagnostic and medtech companies as well as cancer centres and advocacy groups. Our international clients include Imanova, Cambridge Cognition, Arecor, QuantuMDx, Complete Genomics, One Nucleus, Colorcon, Targovax, PreDiagnostics, Piramal and Cancer Research UK. Among the Swedish clients that we have sofar we can mention PledPharma, Affibody and Xbrane Bioscience.
We have found that our excellent contacts with journalists gives us an edge when it comes to securing exposure in leading print and on-line trade and financial media.
Today there is a need to be global early on as a small company what are the challenges and how do Let ‘em know AB address these?
Indeed, life science is a global industry and a major challenge for a small Swedish company with global ambitions is to make investors, potential partners or in-licensing teams in large companies aware of the company’s technologies, innovations and offer. The Let ‘em know team works with a toolbox including newsflow/press releases, pitching articles and arranging interviews with journalists at international conferences. We also assist our clients to get into contact with international conferences and seminars for potential speaker opportunities. The aim of these services is to increase the awareness and raise the profile of the company we work for among the company’s key target groups and in the international life science community in general.
