EMAtoSweden | Stockholm Science City

A candidature focusing on the patient

During 2017 Sweden ran to be host for the European Medicines Agency (EMA). We participated in the activities by compiling information about science, entrepreneurship and the physical environment in Stockholm. We also participated in the development of the EMAtoSweden.eu website and in the distribution of information in social media and other channels.

UK leaving the EU means that the European Medicines Agency have to relocate from London. Sweden candidated to host EMA and proposed the agency would move to Stockholm. However, in November 2017 it was decided that EMA will move to Amsterdam.

Thanks to our close collaboration with property owners, universities, companies and healthcare providers we were asked to contribute in the Swedish candidature activities. The EMA secretary at the Swedish Ministry of Health and Social Affairs operated the activities and we contributed with information about science, entrepreneurship and the physical science and development environment in Stockholm. We provided documentation for the official application to the European Commission, produced materials for the EMAtoSweden.eu website as well as presentation materials. Also, we strongly contributed to the development of the website and in the disseminartion in social media and other channels. In addition, we supported the organizing of an international seminar which focused on EMA:s potential future in Stockholm. The seminar was held in Aula Medica, Karolinska Institutet.
