Breakfast seminar: BIO-X call “New diagnostic
 solutions for
 disease monitoring”

3 November 07:45 - 3 November 09:00

BIO-X is a program within Uppsala BIO and is Sweden’s only complete early-stage life science commercialization program using project calls to select and fund potential solutions to specific, fully-defined healthcare and society needs.

Each accepted BIO-X project may receive up to 2 MSEK over two years to cover approximately 50% of the estimated budget. In addition you will receive support and guidance from an experienced BIO-X coach as well as an advisory board with senior experts from industry, academia and healthcare.

Kristin Hellman and Malin Wiederholm, Uppsala BIO will present the current BIO-X call “New diagnostic solutions for disease monitoring”. The key focus is on reducing the impact of a disease or injury that has already occurred with new diagnostic tools. The call is open for SME (small-to-medium enterprise) and applications in all areas of disease except cancer are accepted. Please note that this call closes November 9.

For applicants, there is a possibility to get feedback on your draft project proposal from the BIO-X coaches. In order to get feedback on proposals, applications must be submitted latest October 29. Kristin Hellman and Malin Wiederholm will remain available for additional questions after the meeting until lunch.

Pediatric nurse Björn Nordlund from the Astrid Lindgrens Child hospital will then present the ongoing BIO-X project Asthma Tuner. The project has developed a system in which a portable spirometer is linked wirelessly to a mobile app called Asthma Tuner. By measuring lung capacity as well as collecting data on how the asthma disease develops, better and more individualized care can be given.
