After the successful mapping of the human genome, the next step is to map the human building blocks: an atlas of the human cell. "The Cell Atlas" is an interactive database, open for all, with high-resolution images that illustrates where in the human cell there are proteins. The knowledge about protein's location are expected to lead to improved understanding about our health and diseases. In the new Cell Atlas over 12 000 of the human proteins have been mapped to 30 different structures in the cell, which provides a very detailed insight in the possible functions of the proteins.
