Digital Health Initiative - A Collaboration between Sweden and British Columbia

There are numerous synergies between Canada and Sweden with regards to health care. Some of the similarities include a publicly financed health care system, an ageing population, increase in chronic diseases as well as the need to capitalize on digital solutions to gain more efficiencies. Sweden and British Columbia are both leaders when it comes to embracing digital technologies and understanding the value of digital tools in a traditional health care system. The Government of Sweden has also set a vision to be best in the world at eHealth by 2025. Therefore, there is a huge opportunity to collaborate and increase the knowledge sharing between Sweden and BC. Business Sweden with partners have therefor launched the Digital Health Initiative.

The Swedish Trade and Invest Council and the Embassy of Sweden are arranging a digital health seminar in collaboration with the Ministry of Health in BC and Global Affairs Canada to share challenges and opportunities but also showcase innovative Swedish and British Columbian digital health technologies. The event will take place October 7 th 8 th in Vancouver. The audience will consist of Swedish and BC experts and companies looking to share their experiences and learnings. The first day will consist of panel discussions, key notes and case studies. The second day would focus on matchmaking between Sweden and BC either in Vancouver or in Victoria. The objective of the matchmaking day is to identify partnerships and have deeper conversations between the Ministry of Health and Swedish companies and experts.
