"To disrupt healthcare in the US is like disrupting the whole economy of Italy, twice". Both challenges and opportunities were highlighted at the annual Health 2.0 conference in Santa Clara last week of September. Filippa Kull and Andreas Namslauer were there to take the pulse on US health tech and make new contacts in Silicon Valley.
The health 2.0 movement has been a lot about revolutionizing healthcare by new digital technology, but now several speakers talked more about the need for entrepreneurs to collaborate with the healthcare systems. Also the investors’ focus is moving from B2C to B2B and they emphasized the value of entrepreneurs having a deep understanding of the processes and administration within the healthcare systems to be able to solve the pressing problems.
The challenges within health tech regarding lack of interoperability, integration of different solution and a regulatory framework are similar in the US and Sweden, but the business models may be quite different.
