Internationalisation in your pocket

The eLearning for Life Science Internationalisation project (eLSi) aims to deliver practical online tools to help life science companies become more savvy regarding business cultures for the hottest target markets outside Europe. The first eLearning material is now becoming available and was tested in February in Stockholm at two workshops focusing on the China and India markets.

Robert Dykes and Nisha Purohit from Business Sweden shared their experience about doing business in these markets and Paul Beatus from Stockholm Science City unveiled and demonstrated the new tools. The workshops were fully booked and much appreciated by the participants.

The pronounced global nature of the health related life science sector puts high pressure on company management at a very early stage in a company's internationalisation strategy. Managing this at an early development stage gives a company a competitive edge and is likely to substantially increase its chances of business growth and success.

eLSi aims to deliver sector-specific language & culture training resources for the hottest target markets outside Europe to life science companies on the verge to take their technology outside Europe. These resources will be easily accessible online and will provide training in e.g. local negotiation tactics, regulatory issues and how to avoid missing out on business opportunities due to lack of knowledge about local business culture.

The material is now becoming available for use and is being tested in 20-30 workshops in Sweden, UK, Germany and Italy in the next few months. At each workshop one of eight top markets will be discussed with focus on the particular aspects of business culture on this market.

The eLearning material is freely available for anyone from the eLSi website . Make sure you check it out before your next business trip!

Stockholm Science City Foundation is a partner in a European consortium running the EU-project eLSi.The eLSi-project has support from the European Commission Lifelong Learning Programme.

Don't miss out on the next workshop in Stockholm which will be held on the 4th of April and will focus on Japan and South Korea markets. Once again, the workshop will be jointly hosted by Business Sweden and Stockholm Science City. Please send an email to paul.beatus@ssci.se if you would like to join the next workshop.
