Project improves health among children and young people with disabilities

A grant of SEK 10 million from the Promobilia Foundation has enabled a project to give children and young people greater opportunities for an active, healthy lifestyle and a stronger sense of community – regardless of their circumstances.

Children and young people with motor impairments, such as cerebral palsy (CP), are generally less physically active than their peers and therefore face a higher risk of poorer physical and metabolic health later in life. There is a lack of accessible training methods and tools to measure physical fitness for many in this group, which creates a significant need for initiatives that both increase opportunities for physical activity and improve knowledge about how exercise affects this population.
