Rethinking Value: How should we assess new treatments?

New treatments often improve patients’ quality of life, but their benefits may extend far beyond the individual patient. Effective treatments can reduce sick leave, improve productivity, and make healthcare delivery more efficient. In some cases, innovation can also generate wider societal value through the growth of companies, new investments and jobs. With advances in methodologies and access to more data, the societal values could be better assessed.
