Networks in Precision Medicine

For companies in the Stockholm-Uppsala region

The use of precision medicine is increasing in clinical practice. More precise diagnostic methods and advanced therapies make treatments become more effective. The proper treatment can be given to the right patient at the right time, and early detection means that diseases can be prevented or mitigated.

Since 2023, there is a network for SMEs in precision medicine in the Stockholm-Uppsala region. Around 30 people from 17 different companies attended the network's first meeting. There was great interest in continuing with activities within the network, and the participants agreed on themes for future sessions. Four sessions are planned for 2024. The first occurred on February 22, and the theme was clinical trials and regulatory processes. The second was on September 4; here, the companies' infrastructure and services access were discussed.

"Eliminating cancer requires a holistic approach"

EBBA HALLERSJÖ HULT: In Sweden, one out of three people will be diagnosed with cancer at some point in their lives. The disease causes suffering for the patient and entails a significant cost to society. Therefore, there is a great need for research and development to improve diagnostic methods and treatments. The solution is interdisciplinary collaborations between academia, healthcare, and industry – and working in a mission-oriented manner towards the same goal. Vision Zero Cancer has laid the foundation for a cross-border collaboration to renew cancer care.
